Hi again folks
Right, what was the gas type for the air con, and what was the replacement (non deadly) stuff called?
How much have people been paying for re-gassing?

Cheers!

Hi Paul,

Gas was R12 but is now R134a, unfortunately though they aren't exactly compatible so a special kit will have to be used to do the change over...

When I had mine done last year it cost me about £100-120 but that included the kit for the change over.

It meant though that refils now only cost about £55 rather than about £95 (thats if you can find anywhere to do R12 now....)

Hope this helps

Paul

Its now illegal for anyone to supply R12 gas anymore, the system can be upgraded to the later R134a with kits for the valves etc. change of oil in sytem etc.

Or

There is now a new gas which will replace R12 think its R16 i think the guy who did mine said it was, (mine cost me £20 to get it regased (mates rates))

Unfortunately we noticed that mine has a very slight leak around the sight glass on the pipe near the front going to the reciever dryer. so a new pipe might be in order when the gas has all gone.

HTH
