Frequent oil and filter changes ensure that your engine does not get any premature wear. Any enthusiast can undertake this simple job

Before starting make sure you have all the tools and parts necessary for the job.

Axle stands

1. Turn the car on for a minute or two, just so the engine has a chance to heat up a little. Oil, which is warm, will flow better and this will mean that more of it will come out.

Warning: DO NOT HEAT THE CAR UP TOO MUCH AS HOT OIL WILL
BURN YOU

2. Turn the car off.
Apply the hand brake and place a wheel stopper in front of the wheels. This will ensure that the car will not roll when it is jacked up.

3. Jack the car up from the back (make sure you jack up in the correct place).
Place 2 axle stands under the car, one on each side, in case the jack decides to come unstable (make sure that the axle stands are in the correct place).

9. Take the new filter and lubricate the rubber seal with the new oil.
10. Screw the new filter in hand tight. Do not use the tool for this.
11. Remove the axle stands and lower the car down.

12. Replace the oil from the top. You might need to use a funnel for this.
13. Keep checking the dipstick to make sure you do not over fill the engine.
14. Keep in mind that some oil will go into the oil filter, so the level will drop and will need to be topped up.

A couple of notes to add.

Oil Quantity = 2.7 litres
Best Oil Rating = 10W 40

I would also advised that once the car is put up on axle stands at the rear and the drain plug is removed, that you jack the front of the car up to bring it level, This will help with removal of all the oil from the sump.

If using a genuine Honda filter there are marks on the side of the filter, so that once the seal is seated that you can gauge giving the filter 3/4 of a turn to tighten it.

Sump plug tighten to 40 Nm.

If you have the engine cover offf, best to use the Oil filler on the top of the rocker cover as it can be very slow putting oil into the rear body mounted filler.
