Seemed like a good idea at the time, by the end of it when I dropped yellow paint down the side of the car it didn't seem like such a good idea hee hee

Anywho.

I thought the area under my bonnet looked a complete mess, all those different colours! So decided to start colour coding it. Finished it tonight and my back is killing from bending over masking off everything!

After the first coat:

Then when I started put everything back:

Then with everything back:

It looks like your Beat is missing a pretty crucial (and big) component.

Mine has a large horizontal plate that the spare tyre clamps down onto. Yours seems to instead have a pair of metal bars at 90 degrees to each other, with the loose spare wheel presumably wobbling on top of the longitudinal bar. This loose heavy wheel banging about isn't great for handling or the wellbeing of the surrounding components, but that's not a huge issue.

I am more concerned about the longitudinal bar's potential effect on front-end crashworthiness - it could pierce the bulkhead and enter the cockpit...

Don't know if this bar is standard, and maybe just fits under my plate. But I would be surprised.

Still, the paint looks good!

I've had this discussion before on the boards about the missing spare wheel plate.

I stand by my discisson (sp? I can't think today)

We all think you are a super girl but how do you see the level in the windscreen washer bottle now you have painted it?

PS where did you get the strut brace?

I masked off an area on the side, if you look at the last picture you will see the white section. That is how you see how much fluid is in there!

PS where did you get the strut brace?

I bought here from a member, it's a back yard special front strut brace
