I will be removing all interior plastic to have them covered with some type of vinyl fabric. Is there anyone who currently has their dash out and can post pics of the attachment points? Or is there anyone who can offer sequence of disassembly? Many thanks.

Off the top of my head.

By your legs on the drivers side there is a sort of leg for the dash, 1 bolt by the door, the same on the passenger side.

Then up on top of the dash there are 3 bolts under plastic covers. You can remove the covers with a little flat blade screwdriver, then use a rachet and remove the bolts underneath (be careful not to damage the windscreen though).

The hardess bolt(s) are under/behind the stereo/centre console.

I had to take off the trim by the gear stick too, bolts either side at the front and rear of the trim (2 by the stereo, 2 by the trim at the back). Electric window switches unplug underneath. Might have to unscrew the gear knob to get the gater off.

Take the radio out (there are 2 bolts down the side of the console near the back) the stereo will then pull out once unplugged.

Then you'll need to remove the heater control unit. All i can remember is removing the buttons and having trouble with one of the wires from the back. Everything pulls off eventually anyway. Then there should be a plastic cover/cowling for that center console. Think there's just a few 10mm screws to undo on each side.

Then you'll need to take the steering wheel off (flat blade screw driver to take the center out, then I think it's a 20mm nut)

Underneath the steeringwheel collum, there is a cowling there, two screws either side of the steering wheel then it just pulls off (need to pull it towards the front of the car first).

Then the steering wheel cowling needs to come off to take the instrument panel off. Think it was 4 bolts on the bottom, and the instrument panel is fixed to the dash by a small screw under the plastic trim behind it.

Think that's everything.

To give you an idea this is what mine looked like afterwards:

The dash out and retrimmed:

If I remember anymore I'll post up.

The black color. Is that paint or a fabric? Since I currently have yellow/black seats, I plan to continue with that color scheme. Black fabric door lowers & yellow fabric uppers. Dash, like yours except I would prefer black fabric in lieu of paint. Big question? If the upholster can not fit the fabric to the dash contour where your speakers are, I will have to revert to paint. Nevertheless, the vents, p/w switches and the door latches must be painted. What type of paint did you use or what have you learned from the paint that you used? Still have not figured what to do about the inside door handles. Maybe cover with fabric velcroed or have them duplicated from polished aluminum.

Your picture shows the guage assy still in place. Do you reinstall it after dash removal or can the dash be removed around it. Did you remove the plastic covers on the side window posts?

Painting the interior in lieu of fabric would be alot simpler. Are you happy with the results? Does the paint hold up?

The cost to make 1 set or many sets of the aluminum door handles would be about the same since it will be a CNC program. Do you think you guys (and you Em) may want a set?

End result is to lose all the ugly grey plastic look.

The black and yellow are indeed fabric, it's stretchy leather look material.

The plastic covers on the pillars by the windscreen just pull off if they need to come off.

The instrument panel was just balanced on there so it didn't get damaged or lost whilst I was doing the dash.

My whole interior is black and yellow now, those were just progress pictures

Have a new steering wheel too since that photo:

But yes it's all done in black or yellow fabric, and the vents and dials I painted using plastic interior paint and I also have a BD Trims carbon fibre sticker set to finish it all off.

A picture during the retrim:
