Thought this might be of interest for future reference.
Just got an email from Rinkya.com saying that they now offer shipping by containers on a regular schedule. This means that stuff like whole engines, screens, bonnets and other large body parts etc etc are all now available worldwide from Japhoo.
Obviously it's still going to be pricey but it does open up some possibilities... for example it would be interesting to price up a uk-rebuild price (honda parts + labour) for an engine against just buying a fully tuned reconditioned on from japhoo...
a standard bonnet from honda uk is about 400 quid, plus the cost of painting it. Cozylights offer a full carbon one for 400 quid and a FRP ready painted for about 230...
hmmm.... its just a shame the exchange rate is so bad at the moment!

Anyhoos, thought it might help someone out in the future :)

Shame we can't get together and order a container load. A bit like Oz used to do with the Big box!
At least I'll now be able to get some side skirts without them having to be cut in two to ship them

What goodies are next for Beat-Chan then Mike? I reakon you'll fill a container on your own :D

it is a real shame that we dont have anyone over there. we were discussing it last night actually - it would be very easy to set up a business like juno or rinkya if we moved over there...hmmm.. :p
don't think i'll be buying any fun stuff for the beat for a while, we're gonna be living off beans for the next few months to pay for the respray and bits from mr honda! :awwww:

Isnt it funny how all the Beat Brochure have western people in them. Strange for a car designed for Japanese market only??

when we were at meet the beat, they showed all the original promotional adverts, films etc on a big screen. they were amazingly 80's/new romantic! :D
that said, mr ishibashi looks pretty new romantic still! heheh...

Many Japanese Associates that come and see us in the UK look new romantic and stuck in the 80's, have also had an 'Elvis' looky likey visit (Elvis japanese version)

I said the same thing to the wife a while ago about how strange it is that all the photo's are of western origin. Still if they think we all dress like that :D:D:D

I think it's a lot to do with the idea that the Western's have it best, we have all the nice cars, the big condos in California... etc etc etc if only they saw what we're really like hehe

It's like "be like a rich westerner with our honda beat"

i love all the skewed interpretationsof western stuff the harajuku-types take on - the punks, the rockabillies, the workmen, the lolita goths etc etc.. i wonder how long it will take before they decide this is the new height of japanese sub-culture coolness? I'd love to see some J-chavs driving round on specially imported saxos and the girls wielding pushchairs with little dogs dressed up as crack-babies...
:D
