I have been a fan of Beats now for many years and am finally in a position to get one of my own. The only thing is, I'm making things very difficult for myself! I would like my Beat to be 1991 registered in Giallo fly yellow and everything else as basic as they originally came. Original wheels, zebra covers etc. I keep checking around, but always seem to either be a little too late or a little too picky!

If anyone sees anything around that matches this discription, please let me know! I don't want to wait anymore and this is the year I WILL HAVE A HONDA BEAT!! :suicide:

Have you considered importing one from Japan? There are always a few yellow ones for sale. Cost ya about $1000 to ship it to UK.

I've actually been checking this idea out and have found a company with a very good rep that takes care of everything for you. My only problem is, I can't seem to find out what the duty etc is to get a car into the UK. I also worry about buying a car without seeing it first!

If Emmac's doesn't work out for you, there is a link somewhere to importing kei cars that might have some information on your import duties.

As for the exporters, my impression is that they are reliable and will give the car the same sort of inspection you would yourself if you showed up on a seller's doorstep and asked for an hour to look at the car. They will usually not be able to drive the car very far, nor will they do a compression check, but have lots of experience with gauging what sort of life a car has had. The car auction and export business in Japan is really on the up and up, very few shady dealers. There are some specialists who will mark the price way up and offer a comprehensive guarantee, but that would not do you much good.

Unless the car came from far northern Japan it would have a lot less rust than a UK car of same mileage, and I would guess that most Beats live in the warmer parts. Dealers in Fukuoka (many!) would probably be a good bet in that respect.
