New Beat owner needs tyres!

Anyone help with . . .

What tyres were fitted as original equipment?
What tyres do other folks use?
Where is the best place to get them?

If you have standard wheels, whether it be steel or alloy stick to the original sizes thats:

Front 155/65 13 (Originally were H rated tyres, but you can only buy T rated in the UK)

Rear 165/60 14 H

Original tyres would have been made by Bridgestone.

No manufactorer in the UK makes tyres of the same tread pattern in both the sizes.

Ive got Uniroyals on the front and firestones on the back.

Best just choose from the big tyre manufactorers.

HI,

I got a set of Dunlop sp300 sport the other day, same size as original and I find them prety good.

I had a shit set before and the car was going side ways into every corner. Buy a good ones cause they will last you longer and you can have more fun.

I only got rear ones. They where €60 euro each. The size is the same as the Nissan Micra but I thought they would have front ones too. I know JohnD has really sticky tyres maybe he'll post what they are.

60 Euro is good, I'm being quoted between 64 and 78 GBP. What dealer did you use?

Adam

Thats about €100, its too much. I get mine from a little tyre place called Pat Cliford tyres, he usualy gives me good prices. I think JohnD has continental tyres. They are very good too.

£64 to £78 mmmm thats a bit high, even for something like Bridgestones or michelins.

Think you should shop around a bit.

(I payed £45 for a PAIR of front Uniroyals) shhh that was cost price!!!

Where abouts do you live john???

try Elite @ Rainham in Essex (http://www.elite-design.co.uk)

They are normal cheap for tyres

or perhaps E-tyres (http://www.etyres.co.uk/)

I live in Warwickshire so have the West Midlands area available. I have so far tried the big names out of Yellow Pages, don't yet know of any smaller dealers.

John.

johnross,
I got a good price offered by kwik-fit down here in Wales, much less than your being offered so as a national they must be worth a go.

johnross

I have been quoted £71 per tyre by the Redditch branch and £78 per tyre by the Stratford branch for rears!!!!!
What price did you pay from Kwik-Fit?

What a rip off! I priced 2 continental tyres for the rear 130 euro for two thats about 100 STG and the price was from kwit-fit!!!!!

If you ring them and tell them the tyres are for a special little convertable they`ll put up the price-the rear tyres are the same size as the new micra so get a qoute on two tyres 165-60-14 if they give you a price haggle say you got it slightly cheaper elsewhere and they`ll prob give you them for the same price

I put a set of 14" Goodyear Venturas all round. Very good tyre and reasonable, got a set of 14" alloys and 4 tyres for €700 (about £460 UK). Put the 165*60*14 all round, needed spacers behind the front rims but very happy with the result, the steering is a lot heavier with the bigger tyres up front though.

I've gor Pirellis all round on mine,

P3000 on the front
P4000 on the rear

I'm happy with how they ride but unfortunately can't remember how much I paid (I'll post it if I find the receipt)

Adrian.

Thanks for all the posts on tyres. I've settled on Dunlop SP 300 for the rears, managed to find a place that does them for 49 GBP all in.

Cheers, John.

Sorry for the delay but I thought I'd go back down and confirm the price

kwik fit prices
155/65 R13 Budget by Avon £26
Bridgestone £54

165/60 R14 Pirelli £61
Bridgestone £64
No budget in that size anymore!

You need to add £7.50 for fitting.
