 UKHBC EVENTS SCHEDULE - 2004

Please note that many of the following events are not club-specific and, of course, all Beat owners (actual and aspirational) are welcome. In some cases, space may have been arranged and tickets/entry forms obtained for the club. In this case, naturally, club members must have first refusal. However, please do enquire - subject to availability you won't be refused.

CONTACT for all events, except where otherwise stated, is ROGER FOUNTAIN - email: rmfountain@hotmail.com Tel: 01332 345549

Sunday 16th May 2004 - Beat 13th Birthday Social at the Wedgewood Pottery Centre, near Stoke-on- Trent.
The actual event is the "2004 POPS Transport Rally" (Potteries Omnibus Preservation Society). This is a fun rally and there will be buses and cars galore, so please join in. Roger has reserved spaces for the Club and has a small number of windscreen tags (you get a little plaque!). Tags are limited, so please don't ask for one if you might not be able to turn up. Entrance is free (and you don't need a tag to be there!). Contact Roger for details.

Saturday 22nd/Sunday 23rd May - Brands Hatch.
For those living in the South of England here is your chance to meet your fellow club members:
Re-live the halcyon days of motor racing in one glorious weekend at Brands Hatch when the famous Kent circuit hosts the annual 'CSMA' Classic Festival. Historic racing, including EuroBOSS, saloons, single seaters, motorbikes and also air displays. To order tickets please call 01273 744 773. To read all about the event, go to: www.motoringandleisure.uk.com/brandshatch.html.

Saturday 29th/Sunday 30th May - Sunday Times Motor Show Live, Classic Car Tour.
This is a tour, not a competitive event, so no special car preparation is required. The tour forms part of the drive to make this year's show increasingly interactive, with participants completing a 150 miles route from one of five starting points in Cheshire, Derbyshire, Essex, Warwickshire and Wiltshire. Included in the entry fee is an overnight stay and breakfast in a 4* hotel in Birmingham and admission to the Motor Show Live, plus tickets to the Live Action arena on Sunday 30th May. The starting point is free and the tour is open to all cars, with preference being given to pre-1978 cars - the first year the NEC hosted the Motor Show.
Entry Fee: £85 per person (£150 per crew of two). Roger has a number of entry forms for those interested. Check the details at: www.ClassicRally.org.uk.

Sunday 30th May 2004 - An Introduction to Sprinting at Curborough.
Just off the A38, between Burton-on-Trent and Lichfield, Staffordshire. This event is aimed at anyone who has NEVER sprinted before, but has an interest in becoming involved. Visitors will be guided through all aspects of a Sprint, including walking the course, paperwork, safety, car preparation etc. They will then have the opportunity of driving the course in their own ROAD CAR (must be ROAD LEGAL in all respects) with an "Instructor" alongside.
This event begins at 10am and will run until just after lunch. Refreshments will be available.
There is no booking involved, just turn up. It's subject to demand, so there may be a small wait. Details at: www.curborough.co.uk

Saturday 5th/Sunday 6th June 2004 - Wonderland Classic & Sports Car & Transport Show.
Wonderland Pleasure Park, White Post, A614. (Just east of Mansfield, Notts).
Entrance fee: £5 per car for the whole weekend. Entry form from Roger.

Saturday 19th/Sunday 20th June - JapShow at Santa Pod Another new event just notified to us - we shan't be booking a club stand as it's rather short notice. However, it looks interesting.
The JapShow in association with Banzai magazine opens its doors on Saturday 19th June to all Jap cars for a massive on-track shootout, with loads of off-track fun taking place too. For more event info, please visit www.japshow.com or call 01234 78 28 28"

Friday to Sunday 25th to 27th June 2004 - Festival of Speed, Goodwood, West Sussex.
The Festival of Speed is far more than just a hill-climb. It can justifiably claim to be the world's biggest and most diverse celebration of the history of motor sport. It is the only occasion where you will see in action the greatest competition cars and star drivers from all eras. But it is not all about action on the hill. Unrestricted access to the paddocks means that spectators and autograph hunters can get closer to the cars and drivers than at almost any other meeting.
We cannot go as a club group, so entry is by individual attendance. ADVANCE ticket purchase only - no sales at the gate. See details at: www.goodwood.co.uk
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Weekend
Admission only £15, £30, £40, £70
Any of the 6 grandstands £25, £50, £67, £115
All adult grandstand tickets include admission. Ticket Office: 01243 755055

Saturday 3rd/Sunday 4th July 2004 - KM Motoring Pageant, The Hop Farm Country Park, Beltring, Paddock Wood, Kent.
Following on from the continued success of the event last year (28,000 paid thro' the gate), this superb two-day show will feature new car displays, classic cars and club displays, 4x4 demonstrations, autojumble, non-stop arena attractions, trade stands plus lots more.
The Motoring Pageant will be open from 10am-5pm. Entrance fee: £1.50 per car. Entry form from Roger.
Further information and directions www.transtarpromotions.co.uk or call 01922 643385. Other enquiries: The Hop Farm 01622 872068.

Sunday 11th July 2004 - Wilmslow Show - Classic Car Event. The Show field, Wilmslow, Cheshire.
An informal Show'n'Shine event with free entry passes to the rest of the Show for the driver and his/her passenger. There is no entry fee. Entry form from Roger.

Saturday 24th/25th July 2004 - The Japanese Auto Extravaganza, Billing Aquadrome, Northamptonshire.
This is the biggest annual Japanese car club event in the UK. Now in its 11th year, JAE continues to go from strength to strength. In 2003, JAE was attended by over 65 car clubs from across the UK and beyond, with over 2,500 cars there for the weekend. JAE is a fantastic event and one not to be missed.
Details at: www.transtarpromotions.co.uk
A display area has been booked for the UKHBC, but you still need a ticket to enter the site.
Entry: £10 per car per day only visit. £9 in advance from Claire Williams on 07798 600420 (M)
or 08700 109705 (O) www.japcarclub.co/jae/

Sunday 25th July 2004 - Classic Car & Transport Show, Beaumanor Hall, Woodhouse, North of Leicester.
Following last year's successful event, the Leicester Mercury is again supporting this event.
A large range of transport will be on display including cars from the 30's onwards, motorcycles, buses, custom and kit cars and many more club displays. A large selection of classes is available, with judging taking place in each category.
Beaumanor Hall is located north of Leicester in the village of Woodstock on the B591, 10 minutes from Loughborough. Built in the 1840's as a grand country home, Beaumanor is now a conference centre. Entry form from Roger. Entry fee is £2.

Saturday 11th/Sunday 12th September 2004 - The 7th Darley Dale Festival of Transport.
Another event with an eclectic mix of cars old and new plus lots of other vehicles, stands etc.
Church Lane, off Station Road, Darley Dale, Matlock, Derbyshire.
Entry form from Roger. Free entrance.

Saturday 11th September 2004 - Classic & Sportcar Action Day, Castle Coombe Cct, Chippenham, Wiltshire.
Sadly, circuit drives are no longer free. However, it's not too expensive to book a drive and the event is always excellent. It's a great day out and still one of the most cost-effective ways of driving on a race circuit (bring a spare set of tyres!). Add in club displays, trade stands, autojumble and time to talk to fellow enthusiasts and you have the essence of what makes a Castle Coombe Action Day a special event.
Entry fee: £15/car for club members. £30/car on the day. Entry form from Roger.

Sunday 19th September 2004 - Return to Shakespeare Country.
This is a repeat of an excellent drive through Shakespeare Country, organised for the club by John and Sue Ross. The route and arrangements will again be organised by John and Sue, who did such a great job last year. Contact John for more details at: jross@iee.org

OTHER EVENTS - suggestions are welcomed from members. Should you hear of any events in your own area, please notify Roger and we will in turn notify members, where appropriate.
