Thanks for the images, however I have just sold the Beat (non-running)!!! So I no longer have a requirement. What shall I get now for roof-down transport? Thanks anyway, John.
Hi, I have a copy, if the original supply is not still available, whereabouts are you? Note: it is in Japanese and I haven't found it a lot of use. - John.
Hi, I've found a company that will make me a new gear to fit on the end of the camshaft - to proceed they need to know wether this gear is pressed on or shrunk on? Anyone know which it is? - John.
Hi Mathew, How much for the distributor and camshaft? and where are you located? - John.
Hi Mathew,
Do you have a camshaft or distributor?
Regards, John.

Hi, I'm near to JN 15 of the M40, ie. not far. The distubutor drive gear on the end of the camshaft has split!! so probably looking at camshaft and distributor replacement. - John.
Yes I can imagine it is not available seperately :-( but the positioning should not be a problem, there is no keying and the distributor can be positioned to suit the timing.
Thanks for the reply - I just wasn't forcefull enough with it!!!
I was wondering from the point of view as to who would be doing the repair. I need a repairer that dosen't charge dealer prices and (unlike my local Honda dealer) knows where the engine is? - John.
Thanks for the links. How did you manage to locate them? and how do you translate them? - John.
Yes, I realise it's a long shot but I have to try to avoid paying Honda prices!
Actually, all I need is the distributor drive gear that goes on the end of the camshaft (if I can fit it)!!! and new...
Are there any out there?
Just out of interest, what is wrong with the car? - John.
Hi, need to remove the rocker cover (engine in car), I've removed the 2 long bolts at the top and the 2 very short ones down the front (where I can't see), but it still seems stuck. Anyone done this?...
It seems it must be the camshaft/distributor gear that has broken as the engine still has good compression at cranking speed. Anyone have a camshaft or distributor they would like to move on?
Paid a visit to my local Honda (Stratford), the guy I spoke to suggested it might be a broken cambelt, in that it isn't necessarily accompanied by noise when the valves hit the pistons!!! Anyone had...
Lawrence, Thanks for the information (but not the news). I've lifted the distributor out and the shaft isn't broken so it sounds like I've got what you had. I guess You can't tell for certain until...
Just arrived home with the Beat on a trailer. The engine cut out this morning and the recovery man has diagnosed - distributor not going round!!! Anyone had this problem? It is likely to be cured by...
