this is the sight i was greeted with when i turned up at the garage this evening - after 18 months, my car has an engine again!!
still a fair bit to do before she gets fired up... but you never know... maybe this time tomorrow...

Hi Tado, after an 18 month wait you really must be pleased with the engine in situ. Its looking clean and no doubt i will be able to hear your cheers here in Surrey when you fire it up for the first time.Good luck.

    its alive!!!
i was able to go for a quick drive round the block last night in it - very nice way to send friday the 13th!
theres a few issues to resolve in the coming days (engine light was on straight away), but hopefully it will be going in for the MOT on monday/tuesday which will be the first step to being back on the road. overall though, it seems to be fine and it sounds fantastic, even at only 3000rpm!

So what's the plan then Mike, are you gonna drive it and enjoy the summer or are you gonna get all your goodies fitted asap?

thanks guys! just got a call to say that the engine light has been silenced (ive been assured the bulb is still there! ) and that its ready to take home tomorrow. i cant believe it.
i think the plan is to drive through the summer and then off to the bodyshop in sept/oct time. ill get stuff like the hardtop, struts and cage sorted during the next month or so once everything has settled down nicely. first thing i want to do is give it a top to bottom clean!

cheers all - we're really looking forward to getting re-aquainted with the little fella!
beardo - not sure about shows - think we'll be trundlling down to the local-ish Hope show on the 23rd - usually a lot of nice classics and oddities there! would be great to see another beat!

Is that Monday 23rd June? Shame it isn't this Sunday as we are kid free this weekend and planned a run out in the Beat.

We're going to Japs at Thoresby on Sunday 6th July.

yeah, the 23rd is a monday evening out at the travelers rest i think. JAPS might be a possibility!
we just brought him back now - grinning like lunatics all the way home. even keeping below 4-5000 rpm, the car is flying. it feels quite different, and just wants to go faster and faster!

all being well it should be going in next week when the little fella goes in for his engine check up. should be able to have the cage put in and fit the new shocks and brakes while we're at it...
