    Hi Dave

Barings are very very expensive I don’t know how bad yours are... but mine were in a fairly bad state, I was fortunate that I bought another E07A and that had perfect Barings in it which I used. I think you’ll find that your engine is colour coded, baring shells and other engine bits are colour coded and Honda will probably ask you for your colour when you go to order.

Have you checked the roller baring and guide on the timing belt for ware? It is worth while changing them and at least inspecting your water pump too all these part on mine had to be replaced because they were quite worn. I used the genuine Honda sealant as recommended by Steve and found it excellent, it’s expensive but I have no leaks so its money well spent! If your stuck for any bits give me a shout as I still have the Honda today Engine.

I would forget about the today engine idea.. even though its E07A the main engine mount on the beat wont fit it, so it wont be a simple bolt in job. The sump is different and I think the compression on the engine is slightly less too(beat 10, standard today 9.8?), I bought it cheap but it ended up having bent valves. The head is identical to a beat so got it skimmed and I ported and polished. I have my original head spare now.

But anyone thinking of a today engine should maybe stay any from it unless it comes cheap!

Go on Dave treat yourself...get your head skimmed also port and polish sure your down this far!

More than likely due to low oil levels, but could have been started off with impacts due to cambelt failures which slowly cause the shells to wear and pick up.
