    Distributor

    Hi all,

I've put a new distributor on my Beat. Surprisingly, it was quite straight forward to do.

I was getting very concerned as the car was mis-firing at low revs.

The car is running really well now. No mis-fire.

The old distributor was covered in brown dust and when turned, made a grinding sound. Although, it still turned quite freely.

Now it's just a matter of getting a refund from Honda UK.

Can anyone tell me how many degrees adjustment there is by moving the distributor in situ, with the engine running?

    Dion.

    Hi Dion

Your gonna need a timing light to set the timing.

With the engine warm, you need to first bridge the Check connector (yellow covered plug) (same as the one for fault codes) this put the timing back into base mode.

Then looking down in the appature of the bell housing (after removing rubber plug) you need to set the timing so the RED mark aligns with the pointer. This mark is 20 degree BTDC.

The white mark with the T by it is TDC.
