700cc Beat crank bearings, help ID

As some of you may know I'm attempting the 700cc re-bore. Just as a precaution I was going to renew the crank shells but on looking at the parts list there are 7 to choose from with no descernable distinction. Even our man in Japan is lost on this one but thanks anyway Oz.

Does anyone know how I select the right shells (Steve?)

I have noticed that the carriers all have the number 2 stamped on the side???

The shells are colour coded, the ones in my engine had slight marks of green on the sides of the shells, I found bits of green on the outside cover of my oil pump (maybe this is so you can identify what colour your engine is coded to before you strip it) Anyhow once you find out what colour you are looking for pick the shell part number that corresponds to your colour (you may have to translate a bit there) Oh and be prepared to pay for them, from what I can remember they were quite expensive.

I have a spare Honda today engine (E07A) fully striped so if you lose any bits etc I should be able to help you out.

the crank is stamped by each journal with a number and the block is marked on the bottom face, you then need the chart from the workshop manual to cross referance the specfic colur shell.

I will scan the page for you later

    Thanks for that guys,

The crank shaft has a cream (or perhaps magnolia) dot on one of the cranks.
The block is stamped PZ1 1-0
The crank journals are, from the flywheel end, 8,1,3 and the last is a Y or V (or a misstamped 1)

Thanks for the offer of bits Midship, I hope not but I know where to come.

If you give me the info from your engine, then i will work out the part no. for your bearings shells.

    should be some thing like:-

Main bearings: CBBC 2232 (a combination of ABCD and 1234)
Big end bearings BBB 234 (a combination of ABCD and 1234)

Thanks for that Steve, I did notice the block mark CBBC I think but the block went down to the shop for boreing so i'll have to give them a call and confirm.
Thanks for the help, it's sods law that ALL the numbers I took were irrelevent. I wasn't planning to do the big ends, they all look fine. From what Oz has said the engine was running just fine prior to stripping, I'm only changing the journels shells because one of them looks suspect.
How much would the big end shells cost?

    Main bearing shells are £18.28 each (so x 8 = £146.24 a set)
    Big end bearing shells are £18.31 each (so x 6 = £109.86 a set)

Ah! Right! I'll just be ordering the ones that look dodgy then.
I'll post on here when I confirm the numbers.
    Thanks Steve

    Hi Steve,
Finnaly I can confirm the markings are:

    CCCC and 1212

Incidentily all the current shells are marked D1H does this have any bearing on the situation.

If you could ID the shell I need I'd be most gratefull.
    Thanks for your help
