    Another one Bites the dust!!!

Another Beat ECU bites the dust!!!

Exploded capacitor has caused the printed circuit board to corrode.

Symtoms: Engine check light on all time. (No codes stored :- ECU code zero)

Engine cuts out every now and then while driving.

The one below it (C3 ?) looks a bit on the fat side also...

I recon that one would have followed suit shortly.

Nope, not my ecu. It belongs to Sam, she has just bought her Beat, Only to have it keep cutting out, This is the cause of her problems.

Not a good start to Beat ownership then...

Lets hope it gets better for her

    ECU Exchange

Maybe she could try one of those exchange ECU's that Oz has just found?

    Steve,

That ECU looks fixable if the only damage is what you've shown.
(I have a friend in a well known electronics manufacturers plant)

If Sam is Ok with it, and it's Not in the bin, is there anY chance of getting it over here just to see if it can be done. Either way I'll get it back to you.

The problem is thats not the only damage that you can see i expect, i have replaced blown capacitors in a couple of other ecu's, but they still have the same faults.

My soldering is pretty good and ive checkthe connection of the new capacitors with a meter, so can only assume when the capacitor goes it damages componants down the same circuit, poss inside the chips etc, which is not visible like the capacitors.
